Bible Overview with Steve Levy #1

Look at the armLook at the arm AGAIN

A few weeks ago I mentioned that I liked the book ‘Bible overview‘ by Steve Levy… and people went a bit mad. So, I sat Steve down with a video camera and asked him a few questions to find out about the real Steve Levy. Indeed, I was tempted to call the blog ‘The myth of Steve indignant.’ Dai Hankey has payed tribute to the real Steve Levy here.

On Friday I’ll give a full review of his book, and offer 2 copies for free. But between then and now, I’ll post a question a day.

Enjoy!

Did you put the 2 book covers at the top of the post to re-ignite the whole ‘where’s the tattoo gone?’ conspiracy theory?

It’s really helpful to see this discussion about the fact that Jesus is the object of saving faith. These days I’m spending so much time talking to unchurched people and the relevance of this just gets more important all the time. In situations where Christians debate theories from one tradition or another it is so easy to forget the utter foundational centrality of Jesus. Steve’s book is so helpful in genuinely assisting people in reading through the Bible on its own terms, without all the theories.

I personally feel it was a real shame to lose the tattoo on the cover, although it does raise the question whether the T-shirt was of mixed cloth and the belt was pigskin. Is the Bible not for men with tattoo’s? I’m not absolutely sure that the man had refrained from cutting the edge of his beard and I genuinely have no idea whether he is circumcised or not. For myself, I have come to the tentative conclusion that Jesus is the end of the Law. Don’t worry, Dai, the Bible is still for you, tattoo or not.

    Thanks Paul – I’m reassured!

    God bless

Does anyone know who made the decision over the tattoo?
    Oh well.

Sorry shouldn’t have commented on it.

    I’ll clam up!

  6. Saint Jonny Says:

In one of my naughtier moments I actually emailed the publisher to tell them how disappointed I was that the tattoo had been removed… I never heard back from them!
